The new MGS5 EV (launched in Malaysia recently) has received the highest possible safety rating from Euro NCAP. While 5 stars is the maximum rating currently awarded, the new fully electric MG SUV topped the scores in adult and child occupant safety tests.
MG commended for safety
Notably the vehicle achieved impressive safety ratings, scoring 90% for Adult Occupant Protection, 82% for Child Occupant Protection, 82% in Vulnerable Road Users and 78% in Safety Assist. Euro NCAP has commended MG, which is part of China’s SAIC Group, for the many features designed to protect road users.
The tests also found the autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system to respond well to vulnerable road users such as pedestrians and cyclists, as well as to other vehicles. The AEB system also performed well in tests of its braking reaction when a pedestrian was detected walking behind the vehicle while it was reversing.
