Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) will source a fully electric vehicle from Foxtron Vehicle Technologies Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd. based in Taiwan. The EV model will be developed by Foxtron which has already been working on a model for some time. Hon Hai is a 51-year old company which has a subsidiary making Apple iPhones and other devices.
The new Mitsubishi EV will be manufactured in Taiwan by Yulon Motor Co., Ltd. and, at this time, is said to be intended for introduction in the Oceania region (Australia and New Zealand) in the second half of 2026. It is part of the product plan announced last year for Australia, extending through 2030.

In addition to exploring collaboration with Foxtron, Mitsubishi Motors plans to enhance its electrified vehicle line-up by leveraging the strengths of the Alliance with Renault and Nissan. It will also adapt models from the Renault Group for European markets and Nissan for North America.

For the North American market, MMC will launch a new fully electric based on the next-generation LEAF. Introduction of this EV will be in the second half of 2026. Reciprocally, Nissan will adapt a PHEV model from the MMC range for sale in North America in 2026.

The supply of models between the two manufacturers is not new and has been ongoing since even before MMC joined the Renault-Nissan Alliance in 2016. For example, the Mitsubishi eK is sold to Nissan which sells it as the ROOX and Dayz.
