Bermaz Xpeng Sdn Bhd today launched the updated G6 Coupe SUV which has been in the local EV market since August 2024. The latest G6 is available in 2 versions – RWD Long Range Pro and AWD Performance – priced from RM179,708 (excluding insurance). The prices should hold till the end of 2025 when the full exemption of duties and roadtax for EVs ends, unless XPENG decides to assemble the G6 locally.
The latest G6 has revisions to its aerodynamically intelligent form which include a full-width Starlight Wing LED light bar with integrated turn signals for improved visibility and a redesigned rear diffuser that enhances airflow. The wheelarches are now finished in body colour for a more refined look, while the new Ducktail rear design improves rear end stability by generating a small amount of downforce.
On the inside, the cabin has been completely redesigned, maintaining the emphasis on premium materials and comfort. The new Super Star-Ring Interior Design transforms 60% of the interior, introducing a sleek dashboard, ambient lighting, and a capacitive steering wheel.
Advanced connectivity and smart cockpit functions are integrated, highlighted by a large central display, intuitive voice control. Smartphones can also be connected with apps mirrored, enhancing the functionality of the infotainment system.
XPENG, founded by two former senior executives of the GAC Group, was established in 2014 and from the start, it focussed only on fully electric vehicles. As such, it has been able to use 100% of its R&D investment on developing EV technology.
The G6 uses XPENG’s next-generation SiC platform, with the industry’s first 5C LFP Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery for higher efficiency but also greater long-term durability. The latest models have an upgraded 80.5 kWh LFP battery, replacing the 87.5 kWh lithium-ion batteries used in earlier models. In addition, the battery’s lifespan has been extended by 30%, ensuring durability while meeting the industry’s most stringent safety standards.
The battery pack is housed within a reinforced structural safety framework with ballistic-grade armour, giving it ‘bulletproof’ levels of protection. This allows it to withstand extreme conditions, including temperatures of up to 1,000˚C and side crush pressure of 80 tonnes,
Together with the 800V SiC platform, peak charging power can reach up to 451 kW, shortening recharging times. As a result, the latest G6 sets a new benchmark in its segment, achieving a 10% to 80% state of charge within 12 minutes, it is claimed. This makes it the fastest charging EV in its class. With a fully charged battery, the claimed range is 525 kms.
At the time of purchase, customers can opt to include AC wallbox installation from RM4,300 and there’s a RM700 difference in the on-the-road price between the 7 kW and 11 kW AC charging capability.
The G6 comes with a 5-year vehicle warranty (or maximum of 120,000 kms) and 5 years (or maximum of 100,000 kms) of free scheduled service/maintenance. Additionally, for peace of mind, the battery pack has its own 8-year warranty with a 160,000 km mileage limit, which should give peace of mind to owners who have concerns about replacement costs.

“On the global stage, XPENG is redefining design, intelligence, and the driving experience. The EV industry is moving faster than ever before, and AI is reshaping everything. What has not changed is XPENG’s vision to build differently as an EV pioneer with AI in its DNA. XPENG is not a traditional player in the automotive industry. Its differentiation lies in having AI at its core, from robots to autonomous driving vehicles, to flying cars, and ultimately leading to embodied intelligence. This, XPENG believes, will lead to a better life for all. For Malaysian consumers, more models with strong AI capabilities will be coming to our shores soon,” said Dato’ Francis Lee, Group CEO of Bermaz Auto Berhad.
