While a lot of shopping has moved online these days, the showroom is still an essential part of the car business. Although websites can now provide lots of information and interactive features, many customers may still want to get a feel of the new model and, if possible, take a test-drive. So while many companies have online processes for purchasing a new car, there is still a need for physical premises as part of the business.
It’s not cheap to set up a showroom and brand owners now want a 3S facility which can offer sales and aftersales services under one roof. Ostensibly, it is for customer convenience when everything is in one place.
Sunway Marketing, a business partner of ZEEKR Malaysia which entered the market in October 2024, has spent RM10 million to establish a ZEEKR Space (their name for the showroom) as well as a service centre at Sunway City Kuala Lumpur.
Separate locations
While the two facilities are not in the same location (probably because the showroom is within a carpark and is limited in size), the service centre is nearby in the same locality so it shouldn’t be inconvenient for customers anyway.
Located along Persiaran Lagoon (near the Sunway Pyramid shopping complex), ZEEKR Space Sunway City spans 11,100 square feet in a location that used to house the iconic helipad of Sunway City Kuala Lumpur, and is now a carpark. The flagship showroom can display up to 6 models and there are also 2 delivery bays for customers to receive their new vehicles.
Premium facilities
Reflecting the premium nature of the brand, ZEEKR Space Sunway City has a premium customer lounge and discussion stations. AC charging stations are available for customers’ EVs with DC stations to be added in due course.
The service centre, located along Jalan Lagoon Selatan, has an equally premium image with ample waiting areas for customers. It has the latest vehicle diagnosis and maintenance hardware, with a team of trained technicians to ensure ZEEKR owners receive expert support at all times. Parts availability is also assured to meet demand.
Sunway Marketing anticipates continued growth of the ZEEKR population in Malaysia and is ready to double the facility size as and when it become necessary. ZEEKR Malaysia says that over 500 units have been delivered to date and according to official data (permitted for publication by the Malaysian Competition Commission), 402 units of the 009 MPV and 63 units of the X SUV were registered between January and May this year.

About ZEEKR
ZEEKR (full name: Zeekr Intelligent Technology Holding Ltd) was founded in 2021 as brand specializing in luxury electric vehicles. It is part of the Geely Holding Group and having changed to ZEEKR Group in 2025 and becoming a holding company, it also acquired Lynk & Co. (also a brand in the Geely Holding group).
Geely offers two explanations for the ZEEKR brand name. The first one is that the ‘Z’ in the name refers to ‘Gen Z’ which is combined with ‘geek’ to get ZEEKR. In the second one, ‘ZE’ stands for Zero, the starting point of infinite possibilities, while ‘E’ stands for ‘Evolving the Electric Era’. ‘KR’ references Krypton, a rare gas that emits light when electrified.
