‘Shoot’ a Proton and you could win a prize

Just about everyone has a camera these days as virtually all smartphones come with a camera. And if you’re a Proton owner or fan, you can put that camera to good use to win some cash prizes in a contest that the Malaysian automaker is running.

Themed “Lens of PROTON: Beauty in Every Detail”, the contest invites the public to send in pictures of a Proton vehicle on the road, a family moment, or a creative angle that shows Proton in everyday life. So you don’t have to own one to participate as Protons are everywhere.

Participants can express how they see Proton vehicles as more than just machines for moving around and show that they are also symbols of Malaysia’s innovation, pride and progress. PROTON encourages participants to ‘highlight the interpretation of the models through design, emotion, environment or lifestyle’. The images of the vehicles should show how Proton represents beauty, culture, lifestyle and national pride.

The pictures can be taken in any activity setting with a Proton vehicle included and all models eligiblwe – from the very first Saga to the latest e.MAS 7.

Any Proton model, old or the latest, can be the subject.

Each participant may submit 3 images in digital JPEG format not exceeding 10MB per image. Basic editing to enhance the image (ie cropping or adjusting brightness and colour balance) is allowed but composite images, adding/removing objects or any form of significant manipulation that alters the original scene is not permitted. AI-generated images will also be disqualified. And by the way, you can also use a ‘real’ camera like DSLR.

The image must be original, taken by the participant and not infringe any copyright or third-party rights. From our experience, some property owners do not like outsiders taking pictures of their homes so best to avoid taking pictures in front of someone’s house unless you know them or get their consent.

The contest is open to all Malaysian citizens from 18 years of age. It runs from August 18 to September 30, with the cut-off time at 11:59 pm on September 30, 2025. Registration for participation is required but no purchase is necessary and there is no entry fee.
