Lancia, one of the legendary names in rallying, said it would make its return to the sport and this is being realised with the debut of the Ypsilon Rally4 and Trofeo Lancia. Alongside the Rally4 is the new Ypsilon HF Racing which will be accessible for newcomers to the rally world and provide a formative experience.

Iconic Lancia HF logo returns
The new HF Racing is part of a broader strategy that not only marks Lancia’s return to motorsport but also reintroduces the iconic HF logo on the brand’s next-generation high-performance versions.
“With the Ypsilon HF Racing, we aim to eliminate once and for all the barriers to entry in road racing, offering a blend of high performance, safety, and low operating costs. Our goal is to make motorsport a genuine opportunity for young people once again—a place where talent can flourish and grow. In doing so, we honour our racing heritage while looking ahead with determination and ambition,” said Luca Napolitano, Lancia’s CEO.
Homologated for Rally6
The Ypsilon HF Racing is homologated in the Rally6 category – the entry level of the FIA rally pyramid for young drivers – featuring low costs, simplified regulations, and vehicles derived from series production models.
To meet the category’s technical requirements, the new rallycar is equipped with a 3-cylinder 1.2-litre turbocharged engine delivering 145 bhp/240 Nm, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The transmission has short gear ratios and a mechanical differential designed to guarantee dynamism and responsiveness.
The chassis body – the same one used on the Ypsilon Rally4 version – is extremely safe given its level of performance and is compliant with FIA regulations. Equipped with a homologated rollbar and safety systems that meet international standards, safety is one of its strong points.
The cockpit, dashboard, and suspension design are the same ones used on its racing counterpart, ensuring the driver an authentic and professional experience from first use. To guarantee braking performance in all conditions, it is equipped with 302-mm front brakes, 290-mm rear brakes, and a mechanical handbrake.
Rally-ready set-up
Created in collaboration with expert rally drivers and subject to rigorous dynamic testing, the rallycar embodies the brand’s core values: dynamism, accessibility, and driving pleasure. With a price of €38,900 (about RM194,000) and a ‘rally-ready’ setup, it is aimed at a large and diverse market to help create an inclusive and progressive motorsports culture.
