The e-hailing community continues to grow as demand rises, so does the need for more cars arise. Proton vehicles have been a popular choice of the e-hailing operators and recently, the Malaysian automaker too another step forward in its strategic partnership with Grab Malaysia, the leading e-hailing service company.
The two companies have strengthened their commitment to the e-hailing community with a new agreement that introduces more Proton model options, including the Proton S70 and premium X-Series models. Additionally, there are also enhanced benefits to support Grab driver-partners as they continue earning on the platform.
The partnership builds on the success of the ‘Saga Power Up for Grab Driver-Partners’ campaign launched in November 2024 which, to date, has generated 220 leads with 148 vehicle registrations for the Saga.
The campaign has enabled many e-hailing operators to update their vehicles with affordable and reliable models from Proton. Now, the driver-partners can choose from a broader selection of Proton’s models for use in the GrabCar Plus and GrabCar (6-seater) categories.
In addition to the expanded range, the enhanced collaboration offers incentives such as cash rebates of up to RM13,000, a 5% service discount for the first 2 years (or 40,000 kms), as well as RM500 in fuel support to help ease the running costs during the initial phase of ownership.
“Our strengthened partnership with Grab Malaysia marks a crucial step in empowering the e-hailing sector. Proton is thrilled to make our S70 and premium X-series models more accessible to Grab drivers. For gig workers, this comprehensive programme extends beyond exclusive benefits to assurance of driving Proton cars. The reliability and affordable maintenance costs are important factors for those who use cars as their primary working tools.” said Ong Chee Wooi, Deputy Director Sales, Proton Edar.
Speaking on behalf of Grab Malaysia, Rashid Shukor, Director of Country Operations and Mobility, said the company is excited to deepen its collaboration with Proton. “This collaboration has made it easier for our driver-partners to access vehicles, enabling them to earn and support their families while meeting the growing demand for rides. With the expansion of our partnership, drivers now have the chance to elevate their driving experience, upgrade their vehicles, and cater to an even broader consumer base. We look forward to continuing this journey together to build a future where opportunities are accessible to all.”
