PROTON has come a long way from being a ‘student’ to ‘graduating’ and advancing in the auto industry. Over 40 years, it has acquired and developed many technologies that have helped it produce new models, with Geely boosting its technological resources.
At the Proton Tech Showcase which will be on from December 4 – 7, the Malaysian automaker will display to the public its latest and future technologies. On each of the four days (10 am – 5 pm), there will also be presentations and discussions related to current and future automotive trends and technologies.

Held at The Centre of Excellence (COE) in Shah Alam, Selangor, the Proton Tech Showcase will provide insights on the technology powering the latest Proton models, as well as technologies that will be used in coming models.
It also shows the automaker’s most significant engineering achievements, giving the public unprecedented access to experience the latest breakthroughs in electrification, powertrain development and intelligent connectivity.

Among the display highlights are the GMA platform (used for the EV models), Short Blade EV Battery and a PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) drivetrain which will be in a SUV model to be launched next year. You can also see what the model looks like.

ACO Tech, the PROTON subsidiary which develops connectivity hardware and software for Proton models, is also displaying its technologies and provides a glimpse of information displays for future models.
Visitors can also have a rare experience of going on the PROTON test-track, a facility that is normally not open to the public. It’s where every Proton model has been tested since the 1990s and which is now part of the National Automotive Test Centre.

As with many such facilities in other parts of the world, there are steep banks which will provide a memorable sensation for visitors who go on the taxi rides.
“PROTON is moving into a new phase where technology and innovation will define our products and company direction. The progress showcased at Proton Tech Showcase is the result of close collaboration with Geely, supported by the hard work of our engineering teams. Our hope is for Malaysians to understand our technology and where the brand is heading, and we are proud to demonstrate the progress we have made,” said Dr. Li Chunrong, Chief Executive Officer of PROTON.
