Tyre companies have been around almost as long as the automobile since they are an essential part of a car. So over more than 100 years, there have been many companies making tyres and some have survived till today while others have faded away.
One company that has remained in business up till today is General Tire. Originally founded in America in 1915, it was acquired by Continental Tyres in 1987 and is one of the German company’s 10 tyre brands.
Continental Tyre Malaysia now introduces the General Tire brand in Malaysia. While the brand’s tyres may have been in the market but now the brand is being sold officially in the Malaysian replacement market.
As a start, four tyres covering different segments are offered which combines its legacy of toughness and reliability with Continental’s advanced German technology. The tyres have been chosen as they match the requirements of Malaysian motorists.
The tyres are the Altimax GC5, Altimax GS6, Grabber AT6 and Grabber HT6. While the tyre are generally for highway use, the Grabber AT6 can also be used off-road and are suited for 4x4s and pick-up trucks. Sizes available range from 14 inches to 20 inches, catering to a wide spectrum of vehicles on Malaysian roads.
They are come with the promise of dependability, performance and ruggedness, and are priced to be good value for money. Prices range from RM192.90 to RM782.90 at various online shopping sites.
