GAC Motor Malaysia officially launches the EMKOO

After the GAC GS3 EMZOOM which was introduced last year, GAC Motor Malaysia has now added the EMKOO which is officially launched today. Like the EMZOOM, the EMKOO is also assembled locally at the Tan Chong Group’s plant in Kuala Lumpur. It is offered in two versions – Premium and Premium Pro – priced from RM123,800 and RM133,800, respectively.

Early Bird rewards
The first 500 Early Bird customers will be rewarded with a RM4,000 rebate and accessories package worth RM10,000. Additionally, the first 500 buyers will receive upgrades for their EMKOO such as a 2-Channel DVR (with 64GB Micro SD Card), EMKOO Exclusive Kicking Plate, Luggage Tray and Sport Pedals.

Those who choose the Premium variant will also get their SUV with complimentary V-Kool Solar Tint and an Electric Power Tailgate, while Premium Pro buyers will have complimentary with V-Kool Security Tint for added protection.

C-segment crossover SUV
While the EMZOOM is a B-segment SUV, the EMKOO is one segment up, which puts it against the popular Proton X70, among others in the C-segment. Its frontal appearance is distinctive with the futuristic ‘Mecha-inspired’ grille and slim ‘Eye of Revelation’ Matrix LED headlights.

However, it has a similar drivetrain as the EMZOOM which uses a 1.5-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder direct-injection Mega Wave engine producing 177 ps/270 Nm and a 7-speed dual-clutch (wet) transmission. Fuel consumption is claimed to be around 15 kms/litre, about 12% lower than the EMZOOM due to its larger body and extra weight (about 125 more kgs).

The chassis uses a multi-link rear suspension and is integrated with the drivetrain by the Adaptive Vehicle Dynamic Control system which gives responsive handling and a smooth ride.

5 stars from ASEAN NCAP
As with many of the latest vehicles, the EMKOO has Advanced Driving Automated System which enhances safety and convenience. The EMKOO has been certified with the maximum of 5 stars by ASEAN NCAP.

Standard are features like adaptive cruise control, lane centering, and traffic jam assist— providing Level 2 ADAS for semi-autonomous motoring. Both versions come with the full suite of ADAS features.

The Premium Pro includes Full Automatic Parking Assist (FAPA) as well. With just the press of a button, FAPA helps to locate parking spaces and then manoeuvres the SUV into the bay without the driver needing to operate the steering wheel. This used to be available only on more expensive luxury models.

Premium features
Highlights of the EMKOO’s interior include dual-screen displays Crystal Gear Shifter. For the Premium Pro, there’s also a Head-Up Display, Panoramic Sunroof, multi-colour ambient lighting and handsfree powered tailgate.

The GAC EMKOO is offered in 5 colours – Super Star Silver, Graphite Grey, Frost White, Asphalt Black and Star Lake Green. The interior has black leatherette interior with red accents.

Assured aftersales support
The EMKOO, like the EMZOOM, comes with a 5-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty and a 7-year/180,000 km engine and powertrain warranty.The GAC Motor network is now quite extensive and owners can be assured of access to aftersales support at 45 authorised service centres around the country.
