GAC Malaysia introduces new Brand Ambassador and 2 new models

Following earlier displays of the GAC GS3 EMKOO and M8 PHEV (at the 2025 Malaysia Auto Show), GAC Malaysia has now confirmed that it will launch the SUV and MPV within the coming two months.

GS3 EMKOO
The EMKOO, which will be assembled locally, is available in two versions with estimated prices from RM120,000 for the Premium version and from RM130,000 for the Premium Pro. Bookings are now being accepted for both models, with first deliveries of the EMKOO to take place before the end of September.

The EMKOO is the second locally assembled GAC model after the GS3 EMZOOM which was launched in April 2024. The EMKOO is a larger C-segment SUV than the B-segment EMZOOM. It shares the same drivetrain as the EMZOOM with a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine producing 177 ps/270 Nm and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

M8 PHEV
The M8 is a large premium MPV with a plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) drivetrain consisting of a 2-litre turbocharged engine (190 ps/300 Nm) and an electric motor (182 ps/300 Nm) with a total system output of 373 ps/630 Nm.

The rechargeable battery has a capacity of 25.57 kWh and can provide a range of up to 106 kms running on just electricity. As the motor also does part of the propulsion, the claimed range of the M8 is up to 1,038 kms, the 4-digit range now becoming common for modern PHEVs.

Imported as a CBU (completely built-up) model from China, the M8 is expected to be priced at an estimated RM333,000 for the Premium version and RM380,000 for the Luxury version. GAC Malaysia plans to officially launch the MPV sometime in September.

Both models come with a 5-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty and for the M8, there is also a separate warranty for the battery which is 8 years or maximum of 150,000 kms. The EMKOO also comes with a 7-year/180,000 km engine and powertrain warranty which should provided peace of mind for those who intend to keep the vehicle for a long period.

Jack Lim welcomes fellow GAC brand Ambassador, Datuk Remy Ishak.

Welcoming GAC’s new Brand Ambassador, Tan Keng Meng, CEO Warisan TC Holdings Bhd (the distributor of GAC vehicles), said: “With his strong public presence and charismatic personality, Datuk Remy has represented various well-known brands over the years. His grounded personality, professionalism, and strong connection with local audiences make him a great fit for GAC Malaysia as the brand continues to build its presence in the market.”

Mr. Tan also noted the vital role that Jack Lim has played in introducing GAC to new audiences over the past year. “From helping us promote and sell units through his network to sharing his personal experience with the GAC GS3 EMZOOM, Jack has been more than an ambassador, he’s been a true advocate. We are proud of his journey with us, including his visit to GAC China, where he witnessed the strength and scale of GAC’s technological innovation first-hand,” said Mr. Tan, adding that with Datuk Remy and Lim, the brand will reach a wider audience in Malaysia.

The EMKOO and GAC M8 PHEV (as well as the GS3 EMZOOM and AION Y Plus EV) will be on display this weekend at the 1Utama (New Wing) Shopping Centre in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. The little ones also have some models for their own test-drives.
