Proton Saga wins international design award

The latest Proton Saga has received international design recognition by securing the Golden Osmanthus Industrial Design Award for Smart Transportation in the ASEAN Application Track.

The award evaluates industrial design entries on their relevance, applicability, and ability to satisfy market needs across the region.  In choosing the Saga, the judges looked at how its design is tailored to the region’s climate, user behaviour, and cultural practices, while also taking commercialization potential and left-hand-drive market applicability into account.

Winning awards since 1985
This latest international accolade is one of many that has been won by Malaysia’s very first national car since it debuted in 1985. In fact, just 3 years after its launch, the model won its first international award (three actually) at the 1988 British Motor Show.

Proton won its first 3 international awards at the 1988 British Motor Show with the first Saga.

“The Golden Osmanthus Industrial Design Award for Smart Transportation is another milestone in the long and storied history of the Proton Saga, Malaysia’s first national car. Through the years, Proton Design has evolved the styling details while remaining true to the spirit of the original and when combined with technological and safety updates, it ensures the Saga remains a relevant and very popular choice amongst Proton buyers, said Azlan Othman, Chief Designer, PROTON Design.
