Italian police get Lamborghini Temerario for high-speed organ deliveries

Besides the Dubai police force, the Italian police force also has Lamborghini sportscars in its fleet, not surprising considering that the brand is Italian.

While it would be assumed that the supercars come in useful for chasing owners of high-powered sportscars who can outrun the regular police cars, the Lamborghini fleet operated by the Italian police actually has a more specialized function.

It is tasked primarily with time-sensitive missions, including the rapid emergency transport of organs and essential medical supplies across the country.

Life-saving function since 2004
This medical logistics initiative originated in September 2004, when Lamborghini delivered its first police-spec Gallardo to the Italian State Police. Engineered with custom front-boot refrigeration units and aboard medical equipment like automated external defibrillators, these modified vehicles bridge a crucial gap in emergency medical infrastructure.

Gallardo was the first model provided by Lamborghini to the Italian police for high-speed medical deliveries.
In scenarios where adverse weather prevents the use of air transport or where motoring along the highway offers faster delivery, these specialized cars operate as high-speed medical couriers. Speed limits would not apply to these cars, of course.

Over the past 20 years, the high-powered fleet has evolved through subsequent generations of Lamborghini models, progressing to the Gallardo LP 560-4, the naturally aspirated V10 Huracan, and the Urus Performante introduced in 2023.

Special equipment inside the high-speed delivery cars not only includes refrigerated units to carry organs but also medical equipment for use in emergencies.

In total, 6 vehicles have entered service under this partnership, completing over 200 life-saving organ transport runs across the country and supporting more than 1,500 road safety educational initiatives.

PHEV performance
Recently, Automobili Lamborghini presented the new Temerario Polizia to police as a continuation of the operational relationship. The Temerario introduces plug-in hybrid electric performance to this operational role.

Powered by an all-new 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine working with 3 electric motors, the powertrain develops a combined output of 920 ps. The electrified powertrain combines mechanical response with instantaneous torque from electric drive, enabling high-speed travel essential during emergencies.

Lamborghini Temerario arrives in Malaysia, priced from RM1.35 million
