Sime Darby Auto ConneXion-Ford (Auto ConneXion-Ford) has represented the Ford brand since 2007 when Ford Motor Company ended its joint-venture with Sime Darby Motors in the market. Since then, the Malaysian distributor has put in much effort to continue to develop the brand and provide the required services to customers nationwide.
In recent years, Auto ConneXion-Ford’s focus has been on the Ranger model, which originally led the shift for pick-up trucks from workhorse machines to lifestyle adventure vehicles in the late 1990s.

Unlike earlier trucks, the Ranger was designed to be comfortable like a passenger car and safe enough for daily use, and also able to go off-road on weekends. Ford regarded it as the brand’s ‘Asian Car’, in contrast to the the Honda City and Toyota Vios which the Japanese carmakers had developed as their Asian cars.
Over 24,000 units
The current generation was launched in the market in 2022 and to date, over 24,000 units have been delivered to customers around Malaysia. The current line-up now includes the Ranger Sport with 2-litre and 3-litre powerplants, the Ranger Platinum 3.0L, and the entry-level Ranger XL.

Recently, it held the inaugural Ford Nation event at Heritage Valley in Kuala Lumpur, bringing together owners for a community gathering that featured live entertainment, owner competitions, and vehicle displays.
Simultaneously, the quarterly Ford Ranger Getaways programme too owners to an off-road driving retreat. The recent event took a convoy of 20 Ranger owners and their families and friends from Seremban to StarFresh Agro Park in Negeri Sembilan.

The participants underwent certified off-road driver training and practical vehicle feature demonstrations which enable them to understand just how capable the Ranger is, especially its 4×4 features.
“As our customer expectations continue to evolve, we remain committed to delivering rewarding ownership experiences that extend beyond the vehicle, creating meaningful connections and lasting value throughout their Ford ownership journey,” said Noerel Ismail, Head of Marketing & Communications at Sime Darby Auto ConneXion-Ford.
Attention to East Malaysian market
To support its growing operational footprint, Auto ConneXion-Ford opened a new spare parts warehouse in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah in July 2026. The facility aims to improve regional parts availability and shorten workshop turnaround times for customers in East Malaysia.

Nationwide sales and technical support are currently managed through a network of 33 authorized Ford touchpoints, which includes 9 locations across East Malaysia with extended service operations reaching remote areas such as Kapit and Mukah in Sarawak.
