Toyota sales pass 36,200 units after first 6 months of 2026

UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) closed the second quarter of 2026 on a high note again, posting a monthly sales figure of over 7,300 units for June alone. This volume brings the second-quarter total volume to over 20,800 units and in turn, pushes cumulative sales volume for the first half of 2026 past the 36,200-unit milestone.

The encouraging sales numbers highlight sustained buyer trust in the brand’s core offerings. UMWT has actively leveraged this demand by expanding its local portfolio, improving customer engagement programs, and providing a diverse range of practical vehicles designed to fit the varying budgets and requirements of Malaysian drivers.

Multi-Pathway strategy
Central to the company’s continuous growth is its Multi-Pathway Electrification Strategy, which has evolved to offer different levels of green mobility depending on buyer readiness.

Expanding on this approach, UMWT has added Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) to its line-up of electrified models which started with the Yaris Cross. The fully electric models are the bZ4X, Urban Cruiser BEV, and Hilux BEV.

The Multi-Pathway approach offers customers a choice of powertrains that suit their lifestyle, driving needs and also the present charging infrastructure. Those who are not ready to ‘electrify’ still have many combustion engine models, while those who want to start electrified motoring can choose the Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) models which are self-charging.

Right models for the market
According to Datuk Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor, the brand’s second-quarter success reflects strong customer appreciation for the vehicle choices they are bringing to the market.

“We are focused on building an ecosystem that gives customers greater choice, confidence and convenience throughout their ownership journey. By combining our Multi-Pathway approach with innovations that showcase the future of mobility and initiatives that strengthen everyday ownership, we continue to deliver solutions that are meaningful, dependable and relevant for Malaysians,” he said.

He emphasized that UMWT’s focus extends beyond just selling new cars, aiming instead to construct a comprehensive ownership ecosystem that prioritizes customer choice, peace of mind, and convenience.

Toyota Extra Mile
To back up its vehicle offerings, UMWT continues to focus heavily on the overall ownership experience via the Toyota Extra Mile program. This package provides support to owners long after they have taken delivery of their Toyota.

Through this program, owners have access to tangible everyday perks such as dedicated rewards, vehicle protection packages, seamless service bookings, and direct customer care, ensuring a great ownership experience for years to come.
