GAC M8 PHEV goes on sale, priced from RM328,800

First shown at the Malaysia Auto Show 2025 in May, the GAC M8 PHEV premium MPV is now in showrooms, priced from RM328,800 (excluding insurance) for the Premium version and RM388,800 for the Luxury version.

The M8 joins the growing number of premium MPVs in the market as demand also grows steadily. These vehicles are popular not just as people-movers but also as mobile offices for corporate use, offering extra space to work in.

Electrified powertrain
In keeping with electrification trends, WTC Automotif (M) Sdn Bhd (WTCA), the official sole distributor of GAC in Malaysia, offers the M8 with a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) powertrain. This is composed of a 2-litre turbocharged petrol engine and an electric motor producing a combined output of 372 ps/630 Nm.

The advanced hybrid powertrain has 3 intelligent driving modes – Intelligent Hybrid, All-Electricity First and Power Preservation – to suit different driving conditions.

1,038 kms range
Having an electric motor to provide propulsion helps to significantly lower the fuel consumption as the engine is used less and sometimes, not at all. According to manufacturer claims, with a fully charged 26.57 kWh battery and 56-litre fuel tank, the M8 can travel up to 1,038 kms. That’s considerably more than MPVs of this size with just combustion engine.

Though large and heavy, the M8’s driving dynamics are managed well with the Adaptive Vehicle Dynamics Control System, while the Electromagnetic Damping Suspension smoothens the ride to give a level of comfort that is expected of a premium MPV.

Best-in-class legroom
The spacious cabin with 3 rows of seats has refined elegance with semi-aniline leather upholstery. GAC claims best-in-class legroom and an ultra-quiet interior with the Engine Noise Control system. The unique draft-free air conditioning system, powered by Cool-Sense Technology, delivers gentle, wind-free cooling for an elevated sense of comfort.

The M8 driver is supported by Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) to avoid accidents and also make motoring safer. The MPV has GAC’s patented rear windscreen airbag as part of a 360° comprehensive airbag system (a world-first). Full Automatic Parking Assist is also available to make it easy to park the vehicle.

Every new M8 comes with a 5-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty and an 8-year/150,000 km battery warranty. Customers who book the MPV before December 31, 2025 will enjoy 2 years of free  scheduled maintenance and as well as a portable charging cable (a combined value of RM3,800).
