Following the achievement of its highest sales volume in 3 years in August, PROTON had another strong sales month in September with 13,395 vehicle delivered in Malaysia and exported. The September addition takes cumulative sales after 9 months to 114,297 units which is marginally more than for the same period in 2024.
PROTON’s performance contrasted with the decline of the total sales volume of the market that is expected in September (pending release of data by the Malaysian Automotive Association) which is estimated to be 57,169 units or 21.7% down. As a result, PROTON’s market share is expected to be 23.4% for the month and 19.9% year-to-date, its best figure for the year.
X50 is bestselling SUV
Woth 3,438 units delivered in the model’s second full month of sales, the new X50 has not only topped its segment but is also the overall best-selling SUV in the country. Insights from sales data shows 88% of buyers are upgraders, with 33% buying a Proton model for the first time.
Highest export volume in September
Meanwhile, Proton International Sales Corporation reports that the export volume in September was the highest this year with 815 units shipped. Over 1.600 orders in 24 hours
PRO-NET, the subsidiary managing PROTON’s New Energy Vehicle business, reports that 1,607 orders for the upcoming e.MAS 5 EV were received within the first 24 hours after dealers began accepting bookings.
Bookings can be made with just RM99 and the first 5,000 customers who successfully register their e.MAS 5 will receive a limited-edition Proton e.MAS Touch ‘n Go NFC Card preloaded with RM100 along with an additional RM500 rebate on the booking fee.
