If you thought that Chery Malaysia is finished launching new models, they’re not. Since returning to the market in July 2023, the company has been busy building up its range of models (some of which are assembled locally) and even launching additional brands such as OMODA | JAECOO and iCAUR.
Soon, the company will add another new SUV model – the Chery 05 (also known at the C5 in some markets). The 05 has styling which follows the OMODA 5 and is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. The rear end has a multi-link suspension layout for better ride comfort and handling.
It is likely that the Chery 05 will take over from the OMODA 5 to end the ‘confusion’ of the OMODA name being used by Chery and also OMODA | JAECOO. In fact, there are already some markets where the model is badged as a Chery C5, omitting the OMODA name.
As with its other models, Chery Malaysia will have an official reveal later this month – which is not an official launch – but from today, interested customers can register their interest to test-drive the SUV as soon as that starts.
