The Red Peak Challenge returns to East Malaysia this weekend (August 23/24) at the Farley Mall in Kuching, Sarawak. Presented by Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the event highlights the capabilities of the Triton pick-up truck over a specially prepared course.
Specially prepared obstacles simulating rough terrain which twists the chassis. As the truck travels over the uneven surface, the twisting does not affect the strong and rigid structure of the Triton. One wheel will also lift off the ground but the 4×4 system intelligently directs power to other wheels and keeps the vehicle from getting stuck. A 35-degree side ramp also demonstrates the Triton’s body rigidity and stability in such conditions.
These obstacles simulate the challenging conditions found in plantations or construction sites where muddy or rough conditions can get a vehicle stuck. But Triton owners can drive through confidently as the Super Select 4WD-II system with High and Low ranges ensures good traction, stability and control on all types of surfaces.
The Triton also has up to 7 Drive Modes which have pre-programmed settings that optimise performance of the turbodiesel engine and drivetrain for different situations. It’s like having a professional driver on board to provide guidance.
The Triton also has Hill Descent Control (HDC) which is like cruise control going downhill. HDC is especially useful as the computer maintains a safe speed, braking when necessary, so the drive only needs to focus on steering to avoid obstacles. Again, it’s like having a professional in control and is especially reassuring when going down a slippery slope.
The highlight of the Read Peak Challenge is the 45-degree ramp which goes up into the air over the site. The climb up (with a professional instructor at the wheel) shows off the impressive climbing ability of the Triton. With its powerful MIVEC engine, the Triton easily makes the climb up the steep incline.
At the event, visitors will be able to find out more about the wide Triton range available, with prices starting from RM101,980 for a single cab body and RM114,980 for the more extensively equipped double cab.
