The Proton S70 gets a new ‘heart’ for 2026 and before the official launch on February 11, the public can view the sedan at 3S and 4S showrooms around the country. The price is not revealed yet though it is unlikely to be much different from the RM73,800 – RM94,800 range currently.

Interested buyers can initiate the purchase process by placing a RM500 booking fee at authorized dealerships. This early booking period allows customers to secure a position in the delivery queue prior to the official launch date.
From 3 to 4 cylinders
The big change for the new S70 is the engine, which like the X50 and X70, is now a 4-cylinder unit. This is the i-GT turbocharged 1.5-litre engine (made in Malaysia) mated to a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission with enhanced calibration for smoother gear shifts.

Maximum output is a strong 181 ps/280 Nm which delivers quicker acceleration, reaching 100 km/h from standstill within a claimed 7.5 seconds. Factory tests show that the new engine can achieve up to 17.5 kms/litre, keeping running costs low.

Exterior updates
Besides the powertrain change, there are also updates to the exterior and interior styling, digital connectivity, and safety assistance systems. Visual changes on the exterior are the integration of LED headlamps and Daytime Running Lamps. The sedan also 17-inch alloy wheels with a new design and a revised aerokit to distinguish it from the 2025 model.

Interior refreshed
The interior has been refreshed with a black colour scheme and new finishing materials. The layout remains driver-centric, maintaining the existing ergonomic structure while updating the tactile elements of the trim.

The technological suite is centred on a 12.3-inch infotainment display. This system now includes native support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, alongside existing voice interaction and integrated data connectivity features.

Active safety systems
Safety systems remain a significant component of the vehicle’s specifications. The 2026 model includes no less than thirteen Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). These electronic aids include Autonomous Emergency Braking and Lane Keep Assist. Additional safety functions integrated into the ADAS suite include Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
