Early on a Sunday morning this month, a convoy of 103 4×4 vehicles departed from Genting Highlands, beginning the inaugural Malaysia Xpedition organised by By The Billions (BTB). It was the beginning of a 5-day overland adventure deep in Pahang’s rainforest, estimated to be over 130 million years old.

Two routes
Over 650 kms, the participants would traverse muddy trails, rugged terrain, cross rivers and even drive after dark through the jungle. There were two routes provided – an Initiation Route and an Adventure Route.

The Initiation Route was the easier one, meant for first-timers and families seeking a ‘light-core’ experience filled with scenic drives and photo stops. The Adventure Route for experienced 4×4 drivers offered medium-core challenges, including muddy trails, technical climbs, river crossings, and adrenaline-fuelled obstacles. Both routes shared one mission: to celebrate the spirit of exploration while showcasing Malaysia’s rich and diverse landscape.
Training session
Prior to departure, all participating 4WDs underwent thorough inspections to ensure maximum safety throughout the expedition. To further reinforce safety and preparedness, GWM Malaysia hosted an off-road training session at the Malaysia 4WD Training and Experience Centre (M4TREC) before the event.

As a pioneer in Malaysia’s off-road adventure scene, BTB continues to champion safe, skilful, and inclusive off-road experiences, aiming to grow Malaysia’s off-road community while fostering connections among enthusiasts, families, and adventurers alike.

Power of adventure to connect
The inaugural Malayan Xpedition reaffirmed the power of adventure to connect people and communities, and it is one of BTB’s key initiatives to bring enthusiasts together while driving Malaysia’s off-road adventures to new heights. Last month, BTB formalised MoUs with the M4TREC and the Sabah 4WD Association, ensuring safety, skill-building, and community growth remain central to the expedition’s future.

“The Malayan Xpedition began as a simple dream, to unite people who love the outdoors and the machines that take them there. What started as an idea among friends has grown into a movement that celebrates our land, our spirit of adventure, and the freedom that comes with every turn of the wheel,” said Ned Nazlan, Founder of By The Billions.
